1 should not fraud with classics

Mumbai, April 07: Actor Randhir is not in favour of remaking classics, including his father and actor Raj Kapoor’s 1951-hit ‘Awara’ as he feels it is difficult to match the original.

“Lot of people suggest to me that ‘Awara’ of Raj Kapoor be made again. I feel to make ‘Awara’ would be difficult as where will we find great legends like Raj Kapoor, Prithviraj Kapoor, Nargisji, Shankar-Jaikishan (musician), Shailendra Hasrat (lyricist) and Khwaja Ahmad Abbas (writer).

“I don’t think such classics should be fiddled. I don’t want to make it (in) colour,” Randhir told reporters here.

“Also, I do not feel any director or producer or actor can make a great film like ‘Awara’ again. The film created history all over the world and even today it is respected greatly. The Toronto film festival still selects ‘Awara’ as one of the foremost films,” he said.
