The Majlis Bachau Tehreek (MBT) on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the inclusion of over one lakh bogus voters in the electoral rolls of Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
In a media statement, MBT leader Amjedullah Khan Khaled alleged that bogus voters were included in the list by an organised political mafia being run by MIM leaders in connivance with some senior officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other departments. He informed that iIn a complaint lodged before the Returning Officer of Yakutpura Vandan Kumar, MBT spokespersons Majeedullah Khan Farhat submitted the list 18,600 bogus voters in Yakutpura Assembly segment. Earlier on March 31st, MBT President Dr Khayam Khan had submitted the list of 21,200 bogus voters to Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh Bhanwarlal and District Election Officer & GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar.
Amjedullah Khan said that a special team of professionals, constituted by the MBT, has found the presence of more than one lakh fake voters in Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Further investigation revealed that the shocking election fraud has been done by the MIM leaders in active connivance of the Elections Wing of GHMC, he alleged.
He alleged that the MIM-backed political mafia had meticulously planned the entire process of adding bogus voters. They created duplicate EPIC cards of selective voters. It was done in a random manner by selecting different polling stations and areas. The MBT’s investigation revealed several discrepancies in the electoral rolls. In some cases, the photos IDs did not match with the real identity of the electors. Thousands of non-locals were also registered as electors of Hyderabad constituency. By using dual voters, the MIM has already set the process in motion of rigging the elections. Shockingly, the GHMC authorities, who were assigned the work of preparation of electoral rolls not only ignored the activity, but few of them actively participated in the same, Khaled alleged.
Amjedullah Khan said that the MBT had lost the elections in 1999, 2004 and 2009 with small margins. This winning margin was solely due to the bogus voters enrolled by the MIM. The MBT had also approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court in this regard, he said.
The MBT leader said that holding elections without weeding out the fake voters would be a mockery of democracy. He demanded that the Election Commission of India direct a CBI probe into the entire scam and unmask the political mafia. The GHMC officials, who joined this mafia, should be suspended and also arrested for their actions, he demanded. (INN)
