1 kg gold recovered, burglar and accomplice detained

Marredpally police after taken into custody a burglar and property-receiver recovered 1.25 kg stole gold from them on Monday.

The duo was identified as Mir Khazam Ali Khan, 22year-old, and his partner in crime Mohammed Rawoof, 44year-old, a stolen property receiver, both are dewellers of Tolichowki.

After receiving information, the special crime team of Marredpally police nabbed Khazam Ali Khan at Secunderabad on Monday when he was making an effort to dispose of some stolen property.

On interrogation, Khan stick to the facts of having committed 14 burglaries in the past few months at Marredpally, Nallakunta, Amberpet, Begumpet, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, SR Nagar, Ramgopalpet Tukaramgate and Humayun Nagar. Based on his confession, police detained Rawoof from his house in Tolichowki and recovered 1.25 kilos of stolen gold. Of late, Khan’s fingerprints were found at two houses burgled at Begumpet and Humayun Nagar.

As said by deputy commissioner of police (DCP), North Zone, R Jayalakshmi, Khan’s sister, Kausar Fathima, is a high court advocate while his father is a retired government employee. “Whenever the police used to visit Khan’s house to arrest him, his family members used to threaten saying they would file petitions against the police in the high court. Khan’s family members have also set up CCTV cameras around the house to monitor the movement of police. This encouraged him to commit more offences,” the DCP said in an official release.

The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
