1 girl hospitalised, 10 suffered bruises, as teacher thrashed them for poor performance in test

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a teacher of a residential school for girls in Munnanur village of Amrabad mandal allegedly thrashed the girl students with a cane for failing in English test, leaving them bruised. It is said that one student was hospitalised and 10 suffered bruises.

Class 10 of the Kasturba Ashram School in Munnanur village in Nagarkurnool district, which has a strength of 34, reportedly failed in a preparatory English test, prompting their English teacher Kalyani to cane 30 of the students. One of the girls developed seizures following the ‘punishment’ and had to be rushed to the local area hospital. The other girls also complained that they were hit on their legs and hands. They suffered bruises.

The teacher was suspended by Nagarkurnool District Education Officer Janardhan Rao on Saturday.
