1 in 4 Brit women wear make up when they hit the gym

A new study has found that 26 percent of British women wear a full face of makeup when they hit the gym.

While over half (55 percent) of the 1,907 gym-going women surveyed said they went completely barefaced at the gym, 11 percent said they were “occasional” makeup wearers at the gym, and 8 percent said that it depended on the situation, the New York Daily News reported.

Reasons cited included concerns with impressing the opposite sex and having a bad skin day.

“While it is pretty common to see British women walking around town in a full set of makeup, I was a bit surprised to see how many women admitted that they did not feel comfortable working out at the gym without cover up!” Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, which commissioned the survey, said.

Of those women who make sure to beautify before they start burning calories, 38 percent said that they wouldn’t even leave the house without makeup, 29 percent used makeup to “boost confidence” and 15 percent said they were hiding bad skin.

The remaining 11 percent of women wore full makeup to “attract or impress members of the opposite sex” while they sweat it out.

51 percent of women said they didn’t push their workouts so hard when they wore makeup, but a third of those asked (31 percent) disagreed, saying that the confidence boost they got from wearing makeup allowed them to perform better. (ANI)
