Addressing the press conference, Shabbir Ali demanded that the State Government bring necessary legislation to ensure that at least 50% of jobs are reserved for the local youth in the new industries which are being set up in the State of Telangana.
Welcoming handing over of certificates to 17 investors for setting up of industries in Telangana, Shabbir Ali asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to clarify as to how many of them belong to Telangana State. “The Congress party will wholeheartedly welcome the investments in Telangana. But the local youth should be given preference in allotment of lands and it should also be ensured that all new industries provide 50% quota in jobs for local youth,” he said.
Shabbir Ali pointed out that the struggle for separate Telangana State was on the grounds that local resources were given away to outsiders and the local youth did not benefit from it. “We cannot simply give away our land, water, coal, electricity and other resources to investors from other regions or States while ignoring the welfare of our own youth. The State Government should allot land and give other resources to the investors only on the condition that they will provide at least 50% jobs to the locals,” he demanded. (INN)
