Fan Ka Dum: An auto driver surprises Sallu

Mumbai, May 29: An autorickshaw driver (and Salman fan) has been promoting Dus Ka Dum and Dabangg.

Salman Khan’s Dabangg is being promoted on the back of autorickshaws, like 3 Idiots was. But unlike the Aamir Khan starrer, this is not part of their marketing strategy.

They haven’t paid for it. It is a brainchild of an autorickshaw driver who is a fan of Salman and has put up the name of the film in bold letters. The rear of the vehicle also features a slogan for Dus Ka Dum.

Mumbai, May 29: Director Siddharth Anand says his new film Anjaana Anjaani is inspired by the television series Friends.

Sonam and I are just friends nothing more

Mumbai, May 29: No romance was brewing on the sets of “I Hate Luv Storys”, says Punit Malhotra, who has been linked with Sonam Kapoor, the female lead of his ready-to-release directorial debut.

“We are just friends and nothing more. There is nothing between us, ” Malhotra, 28, told over the phone from Mumbai.

“Both Sonam and I didn’t even concentrate on the stories because we knew and everyone else also knew that these are just rumours. So there was no awkwardness between us while shooting the film.”

Emraan Hashmi had a miraculous escape in Aus

Mumbai, May 29: While shooting in Australia for Mohit Suri’s Crook, Emraan Hashmi was involved in a mishap on Thursday. The actor had a miraculous escape.

Says Emraan, “We were shooting on the Melbourne Freeway, I was driving behind the rig vehicle which had a camera mounted on a crane arm.

I was driving about 10 feet behind when the camera dismounted and fell off. I couldn’t afford to swerve so my car went over the camera which smashed into pieces.

As I was driving at 100 kmph, the car went two feet off the ground on impact luckily it didn’t go off the freeway!”

London, May 29: Hollywood star Tom Cruise spent more than an hour signing autographs to his fans and clicking pictures with them.

The “Top Gun” actor arrived at the National Movie Awards to receive the Screen Icon Award for his lifetime of work in the industry, stayed to sign autographs and take pictures with his fans for an hour after the show started, reports starpulse.com.

Daniel Radcliffe fears ‘Harry Potter’ remake

Los Angeles, May 29: Hollywood actor Daniel Radcliffe is worried about the remake of “Harry Potter” and fears that he won’t be the last kid to play the boy wizard.

“The books will be around for decades to come which makes me wonder if, in 30 years time, we will be seeing remakes of all these movies. I have a very dark suspicion that that will happen, although I don’t particularly want it to,” aceshowbiz.com quoted him as saying.

The 20-year-old is currently filming the final instalment of the fantasy movie franchise “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II” in London.

Art on paper is back with a bang

New Delhi, May 29: For nearly three decades, art paper had been pushed to the background with the arrival of canvas. But the medium has evolved in seclusion over the years because of a small group of loyalists.

Twenty Indian veteran artists are showing more than 40 compositions at Gallery Ensign in an exhibition here titled, “It’s Now on Paper”. The works cover genres like water colours, charcoal etchings, pencil drawings, ink etchings and drawings in gold and crayons.

New York, May 29: Most international musicians barely get noticed in the bustling Big Apple, but AR Rahman is a show-stopper — and very profitable.

Fans have paid prices of up to $1,000 (Rs47,000) for 11 concerts in North America between June 11 and July 5, which are already thought to be sold out.

The Journey Home Tour” begins on June 11 at New York’s fabled Nassau Coliseum where Pink Floyd performed during “The Wall Tour”. More recently, Madonna held three performances of her “Blond Ambition World Tour” in the massive Nassau Coliseum.

New Delhi, May 28: Reigning Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez will visit India for a six-city AIDS and female foeticide awareness tour in June — courtesy fashion designer Sanjana Jon.

Jon’s company IG International that deals in celebrity charity events has been bringing a number of former Miss Universe to India for AIDS awareness promotional campaigns.

This year, “Miss Universe 2009 – Stefania Fernandez and Sanjana Jon Aids Awareness Tour 2010” will start June 25 and continue till July 5.

SRK misses best friend Juhi Chawla

Mumbai, May 28: Sharukh Khan is missing Juhi Chawla a lot. He misses all those initial days of his career, when he acted with her. He also misses director Aziz Mirza.

Shah Rukh and Juhi together gave hits like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992), Yes Boss (1997) and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000) under the direction of Aziz Mirza.
