German intellectuals revived Indian culture during the 20th century when English literature in the country became a tool of “domination and subjugation”, said Pramod Talgeri, vice-chancellor, India International Multiversity.
“German intellects rejuvenated our classical culture. New impulses of German appreciation also inspired the Indians,” said Talgeri, who was awarded the Merck-Tagore award Wednesday for the promotion of the vibrant Indo-German cultural relations.
The University of Sheffield is funding 10 scholarships for Indian PhD applicants who will be starting their research in 2014-15. This funding is available for projects aligned to the following Doctoral Training Centres. These scholarships fund up to 3-4 years full-time study (depending on the chosen area of study). Successful applicants will be informed of the outcome after the closing date and before 31st July 2014. The application deadline is 30th May 2014.

Seven Indian American college students have been awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship that would fund their educational expenses in the coming years, a media report said Tuesday.
Of the over 1,660 students who applied for the award this year, 283 were selected, making this one of the most competitive years for the award, American Bazaar online reported Tuesday.
