New Delhi, Aug 5 : Members of the Youth Congress held a massive demonstration outside the residence of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday to protest against her decision to suspend 25 MPs for creating a logjam in the Parliament and demanding the resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Youth Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who led a huge crowd of protesters towards Mahajan’s residence in New Delhi, said, “We are going to gherao honourable Lok Sabha Speaker Sumita Mahajan’s house because she has tried to kill democracy by suspending elected MPs, who were representing people’s voice in the Parliament”.

While urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence on Vyapam scam and Lalit Modi scandal, Warring said, “We condemn the way in which Mahajan used her constitutional post, and danced like a puppet to BJP’s tune by suspending 25 MPs”.

Protesters were met with fierce resistance from police, who were deployed to keep the situation under control.

Cops also used water cannons to disperse protesters as they tried to climb over barricades erected outside Mahajan’s residence. (ANI)
