Younis, Misbah likely to skip PSL if not assigned captaincy

Karachi, Dec.17 : Former Pakistan Twenty20 skippers Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, who were excluded from the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) list of iconic players, will reportedly skip the inaugural edition of the tournament if they are not given leadership positions.

Earlier, Younis had expressed his desire to be a captain or mentor in the PSL franchise team besides being a player.

According to the Dawn, the two players were omitted from the recently released icon’s list by the PCB while three foreign players have been included in the list.

In addition to the exclusion of the two batting stalwarts, the PCB has also ignored Mohammad Hafeez from the icon’s list, which includes Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen and Shane Watson.

Younis and Misbah, who still play in Test cricket, were earlier honoured by the PCB by including the duo into the board’s ‘cricket committee’ as advisers to the chairman.

The PSL is slated to be held in the United Arab Emirates from February 4 to February 23. (ANI)
