Word “Secular” inserted in the constitution undemocratically by Indira Gandhi – RSS General Secretary Joshi

In order to counter secular parties, Sangh Parivar used to question the concept of secularism but now it has started saying that secularism is not a part of constitution and it was inserted undemocratically by Indira Gandhi during emergency.

Till recently, Parivar used to debate on secularism and pseudo-secularism calling non BJP alliance as pseudo-secularist.

It is learnt from reliable sources that RSS General Secretary, Suresh Joshi claimed that the word “Secular” was inserted “undemocratically” in the Preamble of the Constitution by Indira Gandhi during Emergency period. Manmohan Vaidya, Chief of RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar declared that secularism is irrelevant for India.

Mr. Vaidya said that the word secularism is evolved from the concept of separation of the Church and the State in Europe. Since India doesn’t have any history of being a theocratic state, the concept of secularism is irrelevant in the Indian context.
