Dejected over postponement of marriage with her lover, a 20-year-old woman today allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous cowdung powder at her house in Podanur on the city outskirts.
The parents had fixed the marriage after learning that their daughter was in love with her co-worker, police said.
However, the marriage was postponed for one year, as the father of the bridegroom passed away a couple of days ago.
Depressed over this, she allegedly consumed the powder, when she was alone in the house.
Though her parents rushed her to the Government Hospital, she was declared brought dead, police said.
