Water Board MD reviews project works

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has reviewed the water supply status and the ongoing project works and other issues with all the Directors of the Board on Monday.

During the meeting officials told the MD that Krishna Phase-III project was commissioned for 45 Mgd during April 2015. The balance 45 Mgd was delayed due to certain Court directions for laying of pipeline near Ramanaidu Studio. After court clearance, on war footing basis the work was completed as per the committed programme by 15 November and trial run for scouring and testing is taken up on Monday and release of 45 Mgd water to public will commence in two days to Prashasan nagar reservoir. It improves the supplies in Khairtabad, Lingampally, Jubilee Hills and Sanath Nagar constituency areas.

Similarly, the he main project from Murmur, Yellampally barriage to Ghanpur at Shameerpet is under trial run. The water reached upto WTP at Mallaram. Being it is a large diameter, taken up under EPC, as per experts advise, duly taking all the required precautions the trial run is in progress.

The ring main project from Shameerpet to Lingampally MBR, except three gaps at railway crossing, Gundlapochampally 55 RMT, along NH, Medchal 74 RMT and along NH 9 near KPHB 60 RMT the entire length of 37.83 Kms is completed. These three gaps are programmed for completion in one week time. It is first programmed to commission Godavari Ring main 1 project to supply water to Qutubullapur, Kukatpally, Serilingampally areas immediately by making required junction works which are in progress. In view of dead storage drawls from Manjeera/Singur reservoirs, its command areas of Lingampally, Kukatpally, Serilingampally will be supplemented with Godavari water.

The ring main- II project from Ghanpur to Sainikpuri, there are two gaps at defence area and near Ghanpur reservoir. The works are in brisk progress at these locations with 450 RMT gap at defence area and 90 RMT gap near Ghanpur reservoir which are programmed for completion in 10 days time.

On commissioning of balance 45 Mgd from Krishna Phase-III and Godavari Phase-I for 50% capacity i.e., 86 Mgd, the power bills of HMWSSB are likely to be increased by Rs. 25 crores in addition to the normal bills of Rs. 45 crores payable to electricity department.

The Board has appealed all the customers for making prompt payments of their water bills in order to sustain the water supply from source to distribution. In this regard top 100 defaulters section wise will be pursued by the concerned GMs/DGMs/Managers of the respective areas.

While commissioning, Godavari Phase-I, the Managing Director desired to provide incentives to all the employees to motivate them to render good services to the citizens of Hyderabad. (INN)
