Water to be supplied to drought stricken Rayalaseema: AP CM

Kadapa (AP): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that water would be supplied to drought stricken Rayalaseema districts which include Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor, by completing the Polavaram, Pattiseema river linkage schemes

Addressing irrigation engineers of the four districts, as part of his review of the ongoing projects like Galeru-Nagiri, Handri-Neeva, Pothireddypadu and others, the AP CM urged them to take inspiration from engineers who worked on Pattiseema and Polavaram projects.

He said that the Pattiseema project was completed and dedicated to the nation on August 15, while the Polavaram project right canal will be completed by August 22.

Soon after completion of these two projects, water will be supplied to the Krishna Basin, Naidu said.

He said that the government is committed to eradicate drought in the districts of the Rayalaseema region by linking Godavari and Krishna rivers.

Krishna river’s surplus water will be diverted to Rayalaseema region through the Srisailam project, he said.
