‘Was slapped, threatened with life by SHO’: Yogendra Yadav

New Delhi, Aug. 11 : Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav, who was detained by the Delhi Police last night for protesting over the farmers’ issue, on Tuesday, said he was slapped and given life threats by the concerned Station House Officer.

“I am surprised at what is happening, the SHO gave us life threats. I was slapped inside the police station. But the bigger question is related to the farmers. The farmers only want their issues to be heard, they do not want anything else,” said Yadav.

“The entire nation saw how I was dragged and pulled when all we were doing was fighting for the farmer. I was not even told why I was arrested,” he added.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Sanjay Singh condemned the incident saying that the incident reflected the dictatorship attitude of the Delhi Police.

“Police is showing its dictatorship’s attitude, this is not done,” said Singh.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier condemned the treatment meted out to Yadav by the city Police saying it is the latter’s fundamental right to protest peacefully.

The ex-AAP leader was detained by the Delhi Police during a farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar last night.

Yadav, who was trying to march towards the Prime Minister’s official 7 Race Course Road residence, has alleged that he was “brutally assaulted”. (ANI)
