War against terror must be global, not nation-centric: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that India is committed to completely support France in its effort to combat terrorism.

“This war against terror is not and should not be the effort of France or India but it should be a global effort. So, we have dedicated ourselves and commit ourselves fully to support France in its effort to combat terrorism,” Rijiju told a press conference here.

“We have also sent our condolence message to the family members of the victims of terror attack in Paris. Government of India’s effort to fight terrorism will be given further impetus by our unflinching support in this particular case and anywhere in the world, wherever there is threat. We are committed by that and will stand by that,” Rijiju added.

In retaliation to the killing of over 120 people in a string of terrorist attacks across Paris, France launched a ferocious attack on targets in Raqqa, Syria – the Islamic State’s de facto capital.

At least 120 people were killed and 200 injured across six locations around the French capital on November 13, which is still reeling from jihadist attacks in January.
