We want complete liquor ban in the state: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind

At a time when T govt is looking to set up more breweries, boost liquor sale and promote tourism by extending night life in the city, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Chief Syed Jalaluddin Umari on Monday has called for a complete liquor ban in the state.

While addressing a gathering of media on the concluding day of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind National Members meet in Wadi-e-Huda, Umari lauded Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s move on liquor ban.

“We welcome prohibition in Bihar. We want even Telangana govt to follow the move,“ he said, making JIH’s stand clear on the issue.
He said that neighborhoods and towns with high Muslim population should “cleanse“themselves of the ill-effects of alcohol.

Calling ISIS as un-Islamic, Umari said that those attempting to join the terror outfit are “stupid“. It is the responsibility of parents and society to counsel them, he added.

Holding “fascist elements“ responsible for growing intolerance and communal violence in the country, the National Members Meet reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the “grim situation”.
