Vizianagaram:The six-year-old girl, who was washed away over a week ago after falling into an open storm water drain in Visakhapatnam, was today found dead.

The body of Adithi, a Class 1 student, was spotted near a beach at Dibbalapalem in Bhogapuram mandal of this district, about 65km from the port city, an official said.

Bhogapuram Mandal Revenue Officer Lakshma Reddy said the body was identified by Adithi’s father Srinivas with the help of earrings and clothes his daughter was wearing.

The body was in decomposed state and has been sent to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam for post-mortem, Reddy said.

Adithi, who was returning from tuition along with three other girls at 6 pm on September 24, accidentally slipped and fell into the drain at HB Colony in Visakhapatnam while getting into a car.

The girl had been staying with her grandfather in the port city while her parents, both software engineers, live in Bengaluru.

The Navy had deployed two helicopters and as many ships to search and rescue the girl.
