Villager held for attacking police personnel in Maha

A police party comprising two officials was attacked allegedly by a villager when they had gone to his village to arrest an accused in connection with kidnapping case, police said today.

Police sub-inspector V S Khate and head constable Dashrath Desle have gone to Hamrapur village in the district last night to nab an accused in a kidnapping case, Police Inspector Sanjay Hazare of Wada police station said.

The police spotted the accused and the victim and when they were about to take charge of the duo, one Krishna Jadhav prevented them from going ahead, he said.

“He (Jadhav) reportedly said that he was chief of dispute free village and how did police take charge of the duo without informing him. Who gave police that authority,” Hazare said.

Jadhav also fisted policemen and gave them blows.

Following which he was arrested. Subsequently, the duo were taken to the police station, police said.

A case under relevant sections of IPC was registered against Jadhav and investigations are underway, they said.
