Korba (C’garh): A group of Naxals allegedly shot the husband of a village sarpanch dead over not providing ration and sugar in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday morning in Chunchuna Pundag village when the insurgents reached the residence of its sarpanch Manti Binjhwar and dragged her husband, Hashim Ansari, out of the house, Balrampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sadanand Kumar said.
The naxals accused Ansari of not giving them ration and sugar and for not helping in naxalite induction and shot him dead. They then fled from the spot, he said.
On receiving information police rushed to the spot and took the body into their possession, he further said.
The search for the accused has been initiated, he said.
