Video: Real History of Muslim Rule in India – Mahmud Ghaznavi to Aurangzeb

With the increase in the intolerance towards minorities in India there is a need to look into the reasons for it. The basic reason is “divide and rule” policy of the extremist politicians. These politicians try to project Muslim rulers as “cruel and intended to convert India into Islamic country” but the fact is completely contrary, here are some of the evidences

  1. Mahmud Ghaznavi is always projected as an extremist Muslim for plundering Somnath temple but the question is, why he only targeted Somnath temple when there were thousands of temples including Gautama Buddha statue on his way from Afghanistan to Somnath. The reason is that there were 20 thousand golden dinars in Somnath temple. He is labeled as a extremist Muslim who plundered temple to insult Hindu religion but the fact is that on way to Somnath, Ghaznavi destroyed Mosque in Multan, as Abdul Fat Daud, the King of Multan did not permitted him to pass through Multan. They had a battle and the mosque got destroyed.
  2. In the Army which accompanied with Mahmud Ghaznavi to plunder Somnath temple, 35% of the soldier were Hindus. Out of 12 Army Generals, 5 were Hindus. Thus, it is clear that the plundering of Somnath temple was not an attack on Hindu religion rather it was an attack for the wealth of the temple. Not only temples but also mosques, churches were destroyed in the medieval period in selective basis and their intentions was to loot the depository wealth.

Frequently Moghal ruler, Babar was also targeted. It is worth noting that it was Rana Sanga, ruler of Mewar who invited Babar to fight against the ruler of Delhi Sultanate, Ibrahim Lodi. Thus Babar’s first war in India was against a Muslim ruler, Ibrahim Lodi.

Difference between Moghal and British Rule in India

  1. Moghal rules India without disturbing the social structure of the country, it is extremists who tries to fabricate the history to project Muslim rulers responsible for destroying the culture of India.
  2. Moghal rulers collected taxes and utilized it for the welfare of Indian people and British rulers collected tax and revenue for the welfare of British.
  3. Moghal rulers never hurt the religious sentiment and British rulers hurt it by coating the bullet with the fat of pork and beef which caused the revolt of 1857.

Aurangzeb is project as the cruel and extremist ruler of India by the extremists of India but the fact is completely contrary to it. Recently, Aurangzeb’s name has turned into a centre of all discussions with historians and politicians fighting off to remove his name as an honorable road in Delhi. There are some facts that many people didn’t know about him yet.

  1. First rockets in India: With his zeal to expand the reign and bring in the latest technology to boost his military action, canon production in India reached its peak. His military used rockets in their siege of Bidar, the first use of rockets in India.
  2. Hindu employees: Number of Hindus employed by the Emperor’s administration in Moghal history, is the highest during Aurangzeb’s reign.
  3. Fiercest army: His army was the fiercest in the world. He ruined all plans by British Army to enter and invade India, in their first attempt, teaching them a hard lesson. They (Britain), had to compensate Aurangzeb.
  4. Non-frivolous spender: He never believed in spending royal money for frivolous expenditure, thus never built any monuments. During his reign, he only got build the Moti Masjid, two outer defense walls of Red Fort in Delhi, and the Bibi ka maqbara in Aurangabad.
  5. Studious: Aurangzeb was hugely into academics and religious education. His daily allowance was INR 500/- which he spent on educating himself more.
  6. Moral seeker: Under his reign, censors were appointed to enforce morals, and laws were issued against prostitution, gambling, drinking, and narcotics.
  7. Manipulative personality: He was the brilliant manipulator, who knew how to stage-manage outside the battlefield, whether corrupting individuals or stoking egos; to make his battle plans all the more effective.
  8. Great ruler: He was touted as the smartest, as unlike his ancestors, the Moghal Empire under him grew up to leaps and bounds in land area and revenue.
  9. Golden bird: During his regime nation was richest in the world.
  10. Bloodline: He is not the only name in the history of Mughal Empire to fight off his father in order to unrightfully become the ultimate ruler of India. Jahangir, his grandfather too revolted his great-grand father Akbar to become the heir to throne, unlike latter’s wish. Akbar in his will passed on the honor to his grandson and Jahangir’s eldest son, Prince Khusrau, who was kept in prison and blinded by his own father and later was killed by brother Shah Jahan.
