VHR smells conspiracy in reduction of BC voters in GHMC

Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao has accused the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) of not doing proper enumeration of Backward Classes voters.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, VHR said that the percentage of BC voters have reduced to around 26% in the GHMC area. He claimed that BCs constitute nearly 50% of the total population in the GHMC limits. However, due to erratic enumeration, their percentage got reduced. He said this would have a direct impact on the 33% BC reserved seats. He alleged that the reduction in BC voters’ percentage was due to a conspiracy hatched by the State Government.

TPCC Spokesperson G. Niranjan said that the Congress party would make a representation on this issue with the State Election Commission. He also alleged that the BC voters’ percentage was deliberately dropped at the instance of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said GHMC’s new Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has been following the footsteps of his predecessor Somesh Kumar in implementing the dictats of KCR.

Meanwhile, VHR has announced that he would sanction Rs. 25 lakh from his MP funds for the installation of one lakh CC Cameras in the city. (INN)
