VHR ridicules Governor’s claim on anti-corruption regime

Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday ridiculed the claim reportedly made by E.S.L.Narasimhan stating that his regime as Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was free from corruption.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, VHR asked the Governor to request Union Home Ministry to order a probe into corruption during his regime, instead of giving self-certification. He pointed out that the case of ‘Cash for Vote’ was reported very recently. He said if the Governor fails to write to Home Ministry, then he himself would write to the Centre asking it to order an investigation in the cases of corruption reported in the State during Narasimhan’s regime as Governor.

VHR also slammed TRS Government for granting Rs. 10 crore for Bathukamma Festival to Telangana Jagruthi, the NGO led by Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been trying to give an impression that only his daughter was entitled to celebrate the Bathukamma festival. He also objected to the celebration of festival at Tank Bund and said real celebrations should have occurred at Bathukamma Kunta at Amberpet, which is presently under illegal encroachment. (INN)
