Valuable Waqf properties acquired under road widening

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has acquired a valuable Waqf property located in the city for road widening however the issue became controversial when the Waqf Board entered into an agreement with a trust in connection with the utilisation of compensation amount of land. The trust claims the land to be its own. Several objections are being raised on this move taken by Waqf Board.

Interestingly Chief Executive Officer Waqf board and Law Officer have opposed the agreement with the trust. They have to say that under Waqf Act agreement cannot be made with any institution which is not registered in Waqf Board as mutavalli. However it is said that Waqf Board had entered into the agreement with the Trust on the pressure of high officials and made the trust parenter in Rs. 4 cr compensation amount. The trust was made a partner in connection with land of Maqbara Imadul Mulk and Aqueel Jung located at Yella Reddy Guda. It is said that at the authorities of the said trust by using their resources and influence forced the Waqf Board to open joint account for the compensation amount.
