Uttam should quit if Sarve loses, demands Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today demanded that TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy should resign from his post if the Congress candidate Sarve Satyanarayana gets defeated in the Warangal byepoll.

Addressing an election meeting in Warangal district, the minister lashed out at the Congress leaders’ provocative comments against the TRS government. He said the Congress ruled for 48 years and devastated all sectors of the region. Telangana Congress leaders turned puppets to the Andhra leaders for selfish ends and ignored the plight of the people, farmers and workers, he fumed.

While the Congress government spent only Rs 13,000 crore, the TRS government was spending Rs 34,000 crore for the people’s welfare, he asserted. The TRS government was now supplying fine rice to the Social Welfare hostels and serving adequate food for the students unlike the Congress rulers who deprived the students of the same, he claimed. He attributed the denial of jobs to the youth and non- completion of irrigation projects led to migration of farmers, he said.

Harish Rao also said the farmers were ending their lives due to inefficient and lopsided policies of the previous governments. He claimed that they have resolved power sector problem and put a tab on RTC losses and extending financial help to the poor girls towards marriage. Harish asked whether the Congress leaders had any such thoughts of welfare? Though in 18 months, the TRS Government was implementing most of the promises, he said, adding that KCR raised Anganwadi workers’ salaries, while the previous regime took harsh steps on them. (NSS)
