Unrest in AP if Centre ignores plea for special status: Balayya

Tollywood actor, Hindupur MLA and Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna here on Sunday disclosed that IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Ramarao could not attend the Pink Ribbon Walk program organized as part of cancer awareness campaign on Sunday due to indisposition.

Speaking to media persons at the program, Balakrishna said when he invited the minister to participate in the Pink Ribbon program, KTR had readily agreed to come but could not do so as he was reportedly indisposed.

Regarding the Centre’s silence on the issue of Special Status to Andhra Pradesh, Balakrishna said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi was averse to grant special status to the AP, it would be great blow to the self-respect of Telugu people. When the media sought his comment on the Special Status to AP, Balakrishna said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was trying his best for fetching special status as well as special package to the residuary State. Special Status would help develop the State on all fronts, he said and warned that the Centre’s failure to grant special status would lead to unpleasant consequences. (NSS)
