Two Wheeler Riders Assn Opposes Compulsory Helmet Move

Telangana Two Wheeler Riders Association has announced that if the state government implements its “No Helmet No Petrol” proposal as declared by the Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy yesterday or in case a deadline for wearing of Helmets compulsorily is announced by the Government, the two wheeler riders will not only observe the day as “Black Day” but also would give “Twin Cities Bandh” call.

Mohd. Amanullah Khan, Convenor, addressing a press conference at NSS here today, referred to yesterday’s chain snatching cases numbering 13 within three hours and said that the helmet rule has come as a blessing in disguise for the criminals and they are striking at the lone women on road. Further, he demanded the State government to pass a resolution in the State Assembly permitting other than Silkh Community people also to wear Turbans in place of Helmets and pressurize the Central Government to bring about necessary amendment in Section 129 of the M.V. Act.

Warning the ruling party, he said that if the helmet law is implemented against the wishes of Two Wheeler Riders, the Association would work for the defeat of the TRS party candidates in the GHMC elections as and when they are held. Our Association slogan will be, “Vaddura Babu Helmetla Rajyam” & “Helmet Raj Nahi Chalega” in telugu & urdu respectively.

J. Ravindr, K. Lakshmi Narasaiah, Sheik Raheem, Mohd. Azimuddin and Farooq Bhai also participated in the press meet.(NSS)
