Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants killed In Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed In a joint operation by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, at Manjempora village in south Kashmir’s Shopian area on Thursday.

The two were identified as Adil Ahmad Khanday and Irshad Ahmad. Khanday hails from Shopian. They were wearing Army fatigues under the traditional ‘pheran’ and some arms and ammunition were recovered from them. Said the Police.

The militants were hiding in the area opened firing on police and Army leading to a gun battle. Adil Khanday was A-category militant and Irshad Ahmad did his Masters in Islamic Studies. They both were active in the field for past few years and were associated with Burhan Wani the Hizb commander.

The spokesman said the fierce gun battle occurred near the residential area. “The operation was undertaken by the Army with utmost care to ensure safety to the residents of the area with minimum inconvenience to the local,” he said.
