Turkey President Erdogan talks man on bridge out of suicide

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has saved a man who was trying to climb over a railing on the Bosphorus bridge linking Europe with Asia and was preparing to jump .

Mr Erdogan’s motorcade was passing over the 211ft-tall structure, after Friday prayers. The footage showes that the President’s staff stopped the man,who appeared to be in his early 30s, and brought him to talk to the president through the window of his car.

The man was suffering from depression due to family problems. The footage also shows the man kissed Erdogan’s hand after speaking to him.

Mr.President was in his car, he speaks to the man with his mobile phone pressed to his ear. Presidents officials said he promised to help that man.

The Police had allegedly been trying for almost two hours to talk the man out of committing suicide. The Bosphorus bridge is at a height of 64 metres (211 feet) is a frequent suicide spot.
