Tur Dal illegal hoarders will face action, Warns Minister

Hyderabad: Civil Supplies Minister E Rajender today said that the officials concerned were directed to conduct raids and file criminal cases on illegal hoarding of fine rice and red gram stocks. ‘We will continue to supply Rs 50 a kilo Tur Dal to ration card holders while its rate is Rs 200 in open market due to illegal hoarding of the stocks’ he said.
The Government procured 15000 metric tons of tur dal to supply to ration card holders. He also said that some officials involved in irregularities in Medak district will be suspended soon. He told a press conference at Secretariat here after conducting a three hour long meeting on fine rice, red gram, stage one and stage two contractors on illegal hoarding of ration items. The officials were asked to procure paddy from villages, towns with IKP, women groups and others and make payment in two days, he said. Rajender claimed that the government will supply Rs 50 a kilo Tur Dal to ration card holders.’ We have already suspended some officials for violating norms’ he said. The officials are taking steps to get Tur Dal stocks from the Centre which offered to supply adequate stocks at Rs 135 a kilogram of Tur Dal, he said. Rajender also expressed discontent at the illegal hoarders and warned of stringent measures like criminal cases and jail term.
Admitting irregularities in fine rice distribution, he said steps will be taken to curb misuse and crack whip on black marketers and brokers. He reiterated that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for supply of fine rice to welfare hostels in spite of the problem.(NSS)
