TTD performs Chakrasnanam in Saraswathi Pushkar Ghat

The mega sacred river religious event Godaavari Maha Pushkaram on its final day witnessed the special Abhishekam-Snapana Tirumanjanam performed to the processional deities in Saraswathi Pushkar Ghat by TTD on Saturday.

Earlier the cities were taken to the Ghat from temple in a grand procession at 7 am and Snapanam was performed between 9 am to 11 am. The utsava murthies of Lord Sri Malayappa, flanked by Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi on His either sides along with Sudarshana Chakrattalwar were seated on a special platform and Tirumanjanam was perfomd amidst chanting of Vedic mantras.

The waves in River Godavari appeared as if they are dancing to the rhythmic sounds of Vedic chants by Vedic pundits.

Divine bath to the deities were rendered with milk, curd, turmeric paste, honey, coconut water and finally sandalwood paste is applied to the deities before giving final bath.

Later Sudarshana Chakrattalwar was given celestial dip-Chakra Snanam in the River Godavari.

Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao, TTD Trust Board Chief Dr Ch Krishnamurthy, Tirumala JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju were also present. (INN)
