B. Venkatesham, Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Telangana, organized Tourism Interaction meet with prominent tourism stake holders consisting of Hoteliers, International Airline operators, Resorts, Telangana Non Resident Indians Associations (NRIs), etc., The main objectives of the meeting was: Branding of NRIs of Telangana as Ambassadors for attracting Foreign Tourists to the State, Celebration of NRI Day (An regular Annual Event) , Idea for implementation of “Hyderabad Pass” , Discussions on drafting New Telangana Tourism Policy, Integration and promotion of “Happening Hyderabad” and involvement of Tourism Stake Holders.
The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner, GHMC, Commissioner, HMDA, Managing Director, RTC, Managing Director, TSTDC, CEO, GMR Airport and the top decision makers from Hotels and Resorts of Hyderabad. The representatives of prominent Telangana NRI Associations from UK, USA, South Africa, Bahrain were also present.
It was also decided to organize the 1st Telangana NRI Divas / Day, which will be held shortly in Hyderabad, wherein an estimated 30,000 Telangana NRI will be participating.
All the participants have appreciated this novel idea of involving private tourism stake holders in Telangana Tourism Promotion. GHMC and HMDA has readily agreed to the request of the Tourism Department for opening up of an exclusive Tourism & Culture wings for promoting Hyderabad as International Destination.
Secretary (Tourism) has invited all tourism stake holders for suggestions that can be incorporated in the Telangana Tourism Policy.(NSS)
