TS Govt to set 84 Centres to purchase cotton

Irrigation and Marketing Minister T. Harish Rao on Monday informed that 84 Centres would be established across Telangana State to purchase cotton.

Addressing a Video-Conference with District Collectors here, Harish aid that the Cotton Corporation of India has so far established 16 Centres across Telangana. The remaining Centres would be established within 10 days. He said there could be problems at some centres in Warangal, Khammam and Karimnagar. He directed the District Collectors to keep a special watch on such centres.

Harish Rao said that the Cotton Corporation of India has made arrangements for purchase and sale of cotton round-the-clock. He directed the senior officials to remain present at the Centres since 7 AM. He said all cotton farmers would be issued identity cards so as to eradicate the involvement of middle men.

Principal Secretary C. Parasarathy and other senior officials were also present during the Video Conference. (INN)
