Trust Jaitley’s integrity, not competence: Digvijay Singh

New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday said that he trusts Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s integrity, but doubts his competence.

“I have always said that we trust his integrity but I do not trust his competence. If he cannot stop irregularities in DDCA, can he stop it in the Finance Ministry? My objection is on his capability,” Singh told the media here.

“I am happy that at least margdarshak meeting is taking place. We will see the outcome of the meeting. We will wait to see whether Narendra Modi and Amit Shah agrees to the decision on Jaitley,” he added.

Singh further said it puts a question mark on Jaitley’s ability if he does not get know the irregularities in the DDCA.

He took a jibe at the BJP asking if that is going to be the fate of all those who raise the issue of corruption.

“Is this going to be the fate of all those in the BJP who raise issue of corruption? First Ram Jethmalani and now Kirti. Next Shatrughan Sinha?” Singh said.

The BJP on Wednesday suspended its MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad, for what it called ‘anti-party activities’.

The cricketer-turned-politician has been raising the issue of rampant corruption in the DDCA including the period when Arun Jaitley, was the president of the cricket body.

Azad was reportedly persuaded by the BJP chief Amit Shah to not go ahead with his much-publicised expose on Sunday, when he released a video of a DDCA AGM held in 2012, where he was seen accusing Jaitley of forging documents. (ANI)
