TRS wins 4 Telangana Legislative Council seats, Cong two

Hyderabad: Continuing its domination of state politics, Telangana’s ruling TRS today bagged four of the six Legislative Council seats meant for representatives of the local bodies, while main opposition Congress pocketed two.

In an impressive show, TRS won two seats in Ranga Reddy and one each in Mahabubnagar and Khammam districts.

Earlier, TRS candidates were declared elected uncontested in six seats in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Warangal districts, state’s Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal told reporters.

Congress won a seat each in Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts.

The party’s victory in two places in the Legislative Council polls came after humiliating losses that began with the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly polls last year followed by defeat in bypolls to Medak and Warangal LS seats.
