Train passengers from Pakistan sent back

Ferozepur:Passengers who arrived at the border here from Pakistan by a link train were today sent back after Delhi Attari Express train, which ferries them to the national capital, was cancelled due to the rail blockade by agitating farmers in Punjab.

“We did not allow the train that arrived from Pakistan today,” Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anuj Parkash told PTI here.

“Since the train was not allowed, the passengers had to return to Pakistan,” he said, without assigning any reason for the move.

But, official sources said that the train was sent back as the 14001 Delhi Attari Express did not arrive today from New Delhi.

The Delhi Attari Express train was among the trains cancelled in view of the farmers’ stir in Punjab.

As per the arrangement between India and Pakistan, the passengers coming from Pakistan travel to Delhi by the 14002 Attari Delhi Express which runs on Thursday and Monday.

Those bound for Pakistan arrive at Attari by the 14001 Delhi Attari Express which leaves the national capital on every Wednesday and Sunday.

The train runs non-stop between Delhi and Attari from where the passengers board the Attari Wagaha Link Express with Attari being in India and Wagaha being in Pakistan.
