Demanding immediate payment of arrears of Indiramma Housing scheme, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee held dharnas at Tehsil offices across the Telangana State on Tuesday.
The dharnas were led by the Congress MLA and incharges for Assembly constituencies. The beneficiaries of Indiramma Housing scheme also participated in the protest. While TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka led the protest in Khammam, GHCC President D Nagender mobilised the dharna in Hyderabad. Addressing the protest, Bhatti said that the State Government did not clear the pending bills of nearly 5 lakh beneficiaries who belong to the SC, ST, BC and minority communities. He said that the scheme was initiated by the then Congress Government and lakhs of poor families were provided housing during the 10 year period.
However, Bhatti alleged that the TRS Government stopped all the pending bills after it came to power in June 2014. He threatened to intensify the agitation if pending bills are not cleared on immediate basis. (INN)
