Torn pages from holy book found in Haryana

Pages of a holy book were today found strewn near the bank of the Panjokhra minor in Singhawala village near here, police said.

Some villagers noticed it and informed Municipal Councillor Daljeet Singh Bhatia, who then brought it to the notice of police.

Sikh devotees gathered the pages in a piece of cloth and put them in Gurudwara Manji Sahib, police said.

Akali leaders Sukhdev Singh Gobindarh and Ajeet Singh Sounda rushed to the spot on receiving information about the incident and demanded that a case be registered in this regard.

Police said the matter is being probed and action would be taken against those found involved in it.

Neighbouring Punjab was rocked by at least 15 incidents of sacrilege of holy book last month. Violent protests were held over these incidents, leading to the death of two persons.
