Toddler falls into borewell in Telangana, rescue operation underway

Medak: A toddler got trapped after falling into a 30-feet borewell in Medak district of Telangana on Saturday.

The child fell into the borewell at around 7:00 a.m. while his parents were away on a field for work, claimed local media reports.

A medical team along with an ambulance was rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue operation and administer oxygen into the borewell for the child to breathe.

Another medical team would also be reaching the site shortly. The team would confirm if the child is still alive.

The reports suggested the residents blamed the administration for the mishap saying the top of the borewell was not covered.

This is not the first case of a child falling into an uncovered manhole in India.

Due to the negligence on the part of authorities, several children have fallen into deep open borewells across the country.

Borewells are often illegally dug up to extract water in areas where the water tables are depleting. (ANI)
