TMC distances itself from Pabitra Roy post firing incident

Kolkata : Confirming the suspension of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat member Pabitra Roy for firing from inside a car on a mob, the party said that it has zero tolerance for such issues.

“Firstly, he is a Panchayat member and not a leader. The action has been swift, he allegedly used a gun, he has already been arrested. The law will take its own course, as it is equal for everybody. And he is already been suspended from the party. The party has zero tolerance for such issues,” TMC national spokesperson Derek O’Brien told ANI here.

Pabitra Roy was arrested on Sunday by the West Bengal Police for killing two villager in Malda.

According to reports, Roy had opened fire from inside a car on a mob on Sunday afternoon while trying to flee the scene of an accident, killing one person and critically injuring another in Malda.

Roy, a TMC leader and local village council chief, rammed his officially-allotted Bolero car into a cyclist around 3p.m. on Sunday and opened fire on a chasing mob, triggering massive protests in the area. (ANI)
