TJAC threatens agitation over HC bifurcation

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Saturday threatened to launch a fresh public agitation demanding bifurcation of High Court.

The agitation will be launched on August 6, the birth anniversary of Prof. Jayashankar.

Addressing a Round Table Conference organised by the Telangana Advocates JAC at Sundaryya Vignana Kendram here, Kodandaram said it was highly condemnable that the High Court remained undivided despite the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh more than one year ago. Supporting the ongoing agitation by Advocates JAC, he said that the TPJAC would launch another public movement demanding immediate division of High Court. He said that the Telangana Government was unable to function properly due to the absence of its own High Court. Similarly, the employees and officials of Telangana State were facing problems due to the delay in bifurcation of many other departments.

Kodandaram said that the Centre has constituted Sheela Bedi Committee only for the division of assets. He said that no steps have been taken to divided many government institutions and corporations. He said that the Centre should execute the bifurcation task as per Article 371 D of the constitution.

Representatives of different political parties, NGOs and other organisations participated in the Round Table conference. (INN)
