Three columns of Army from Secunderabad deployed for “Op Madad”

Indian Air Force continued to press into service for relief and rescue operation named as “Operation Madad” in the rain hit Chennai and adjourning areas.

Three columns of Indian Army with necessary relief material and medical aid were consigned from Secunderabad by two special transport aircraft C-17 of Indian Air Force which left Air Force Station, Begumpet in afternoon and evening today.

Meanwhile, 99 stranded passengers including women and children at Chennai Airport and other places were brought by a transport carrier of Indian Air Force C-17 which landed this evening at the Air Force Station, Begumpet, where authorities have arranged food, water and necessary medical assistance to them and later they were dispatched to Hyderabad Airport and Railway stations by arranging special buses enabled them to reach their destinations. Several passengers have expressed their feeling of gratitude for timely help by Army, Air Force and Navy and said that without their assistance in the flood ravaged areas of Chennai it would not have been possible for them to come out safely.
