Those opposed to Yakub’s hanging are traitors: BJP leader

Describing Bollywood actor Salman Khan and others, opposed to Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon’s hanging, as ‘traitors’, BJP leader Arshad Alam today said that they should be sent to Pakistan.

“It is a shame that there are certain people who are opposing Yakub Memon’s hanging. Those who are opposing are traitors. Irrespective of any party affiliation whoever is opposing it is a traitor and should go to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia,” Alam, national secretary of the BJP’s Minority Morcha, told reporters here.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan yesterday in a series of tweets criticised Memon’s scheduled hanging and described him as innocent, but withdrew them later and tendered an unconditional apology.

Asked about BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha’s signing of the mercy petition for Yakub Memon, Alam said,” I don’t know what Sinha has said. But I feel that whoever is opposing it is a traitor and is anti-national. It is better that they should go to Pakistan.”

“The verdict of the Supreme court should be respected by everyone. Both Hindus and Muslims were killed in the Bombay blasts. So it is wrong to give a communal colour to it. If someone sympathizes with Yakub, then he should also visit the family members of those victims who were killed in the blast,” he said.
