Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today urged Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to ask army authorities to defer the closure of a road in Secunderabad Cantonment until an alternative thoroughfare is completed for the ease of locals in the area.

Rao wrote to the defence minister requesting him to issue instructions to the army authorities concerned in Secunderabad Cantonment that they should postpone the proposed closure of Gough Road until an alternative road is completed, said a release from the chief minister’s office.

“The CM mentioned in the letter that severe hardship (is) being faced by a large number of civilian population residing in many colonies and areas like thickly-populated Sainikpuri, AS Rao Nagar, ECIL, etc., surrounding the Secunderabad Cantonment area, either due to closure of roads or imposition of restrictions by AOC authorities on usage of roads in the Cantonment area,” the release added.
