TDP has lost face to contest elections: Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Telugu Desam Party has lost face to contest elections in Telangana and therefore, it has left the Warangal Lok Sabha seat for BJP in the by-elections.

Harish Rao said that the TDP has completely lost its cadre base and public support. Similarly, he said that the BJP could not find a local candidate to contest the by-elections and therefore, it imported a candidate from the US. Addressing a meeting organised by the RTC workers in Warangal, Harish Rao said that the Congress too was facing a similar situation. He said the Congress party first nominated a former MP and later changed the candidature to a non-local candidate by fielding Sarve Satyanarayana.

He appealed to the RTC workers and other employees to vote in favour of TRS candidate P. Dayakar. He said that the State Government was taking measures to turn the RTC into a profitable institution. He reminded that the TRS Government gave 44% Fitment to the RTC employees by bearing an additional burden of Rs 75 crore per month. He said that the services of 43,000 workers were regularised in one take. He promised that the government would provide housing benefit to all the RTC workers in the State. (INN)
