TDP Politburo Member A. Uma Madhava Reddy on Tuesday demanded that Bhongir should be created as new district of Telangana State.
Addressing a press conference at NTR Trust Bhavan here, Uma Madhava Reddy said Bhongir was ideal for development as a district. Located between Hyderabad and Warangal, Bhongir has nearly 700 acres of land and other resources. It was a prominent city during Nizam Rule and Madras State. She said a delegation of leaders from Bhongir would soon meet Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to press for their demand.
The TDP leader also supported the proposal for conversion of Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituencies into districts. (INN)
