TDP afraid of facing polls in Telangana: Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday stated that the Telugu Desam Party leaders were afraid of facing elections in Telangana.

Addressing an election meeting at Hanamkonda Grounds, Harish Rao said that the TDP leaders have realised that their party belongs to Andhra Pradesh and people of Telangana would not vote for it in any elections. For the same reasons, TDP did not participate in any elections held after formation of Telangana in 2014. Citing examples, he said TDP did not contest by-elections for Medak Lok Sabha seat and MLC elections. Instead, it supported its ally BJP in those elections. This time too, TDP is supporting the BJP candidate in Warangal by-elections.

Harish Rao said that the TRS has given ticket to a poor candidate, P. Dayakar. However, other opposition parties have fielded non-local candidates who are not even aware of boundaries of Warangal constituency. He said that the victory of TRS candidate was imminent. He assured that the Warangal would be developed on part with Hyderabad.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the TRS Government was working for the welfare of all communities in the State. He appealed to the voters to elect TRS candidate Dayakar and teach a fitting lesson to Congress and BJP candidates. (INN)
