T Auto drivers call for bandh on Nov. 30

Telangana Auto Drivers’ JAC has called one-day Auto Bandh on November 30 to protest against the Uber and Ola cabs indulging in uneconomic competition with Autos illegally and spot challans instead of e-challans system.

Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, JAC convenor Mohd. Amanullah Khan said as per Section 67 (d) of M.V. Act, it is the responsibility of the government to prevent uneconomic competition among the public service vehicles such as autos and taxis.  For this purpose, different rates of fares were fixed in respect of autos and taxi cabs. But the Uber and Ola Cabs since some time were collecting lesser rate per kilometer than the autos in violation of M.V Act rules.  Therefore, the Auto Drivers were being deprived of their 11/2 fare during nights between 11 pm and 5 am. Consequently, there is a simmering discontent among the auto drivers in the twin cities. The Auto drivers are now left with no other alternative than to go on auto strike and intensify their agitation.
