Swiss teen Bencic beats `injured` Halep to lift Rogers Cup

London: Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic claimed her second career title at the Rogers Cup after defeating an ailing Simona Halep in the summit clash in Toronto.

The 18-year-old overcame Halep 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (4-7), 3-0 as the latter struggled with a leg injury and heat exhaustion before she was forced to retire hurt, the BBC reported.

Bencic, who claimed her first title at Eastbourne in June, had earlier stunned world number one Serena Williams to reach the tournament final. (ANI)
