Swine Flu death in Lucknow, vigil stepped up

Lucknow: High alert has been issued across Uttar Pradesh following the death of a 37-year-old due to swine flu, health officials said Thursday.

The death has been reported from Barabanki, neighbouring the state capital.

Officials said the victim was being treated at a private medical facility for high grade fever and cold for the past few days and was eferred to the Sanjay Gandhi Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Wednesday where he died later at night.

His samples were tested positive for swine flu and his neighbours, relatives and family are now being examined for any infection, a doctor told IANS.

“There is no need to panic, health officials across the state capital are vigilant and are keeping an eye on patients showing H1N1 like symptoms” chief medical official (CMO) of Lucknow S.N.S. Yadav said.

This is the second death in the state reported due to swine flu this year.

Last week a 60-year-old from Nirala Nagar locality died due to swine flu.
